This Week on Sound Medicine
INDIANAPOLIS — This weekend, June 20 and 21, Sound Medicine host Barbara Lewis and her guests will discuss breast cancer medications, birth control pills and "positivity."
David Flockhart, M.D., Ph.D., director of clinical pharmacology at Indiana University School of Medicine, will explain the concerns of the Food and Drug Administration about the use of tamoxifen, a popular breast cancer medication, in combination with some antidepressants.
Steven Riechman, Ph.D., M.P.H., an assistant professor of health and kinesiology at Texas A&M University, will discuss his recent study which found that women who take birth control pills have more difficulty developing muscle mass.
Barbara Frederickson, Ph.D., a psychology professor and researcher at the Positive Emotions and Psychophysiology Lab at the University of North Carolina, will discuss her book, Positivity, which offers practical tools that will help decrease negative feelings.
In this week’s Sound Medicine “Checkup,” Jeremy Shere, Ph.D., will explore regular and irregular heartbeats.
