This Week on Sound Medicine
INDIANAPOLIS — This weekend, July 11 and 12, Sound Medicine host Barbara Lewis and her guests will discuss acupuncture, women's health and compassion fatigue.
Daniel Cherkin, Ph.D., senior investigator of alternative approaches to healing at the Group Health Center For Health Studies in Seattle, will discuss his new study which found that while acupuncture does appear to help relieve lower back pain, it isn’t clear how it actually works.
George Sawaya, M.D., an OB/GYN physician at the University of California-San Francisco, will explain how evidence-based medicine applies to issues concerning women’s health.
Caroline Carney Doebbeling, M.D., associate professor of medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine, will explain her research that shows how compassion fatigue can lead to problems among those who care for patients with cancer.
In this week’s Sound Medicine “Checkup,” Jeremy Shere, Ph.D., will explore human anatomy knowledge or lack thereof.
Archived editions of Sound Medicine as well as other helpful information can be found at http://www.soundmedicine.iu.edu.
Sound Medicine is underwritten by Clarian Health, IU Medical Group and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Primary care segments are underwritten by Wishard Health Services.
