This Week on Sound Medicine
INDIANAPOLIS — This weekend, Aug. 22 and 23, Sound Medicine host Barbara Lewis and her guests will discuss MRSA being spread through animals, health care reform and health care myths.
Scott Weese, D.V.M., associate professor of pathobiology and of public health and zoonotic disease at the University of Guelph in Canada, will explain his recent findings that MRSA can be spread on the paws and fur of therapy animals inside hospitals and nursing homes.
Eleanor Kinney, J.D., M.P.H., co-director of the William S. and Christine S. Hall Center for Law and Health at the Indiana University School of Law- Indianapolis, will discuss some of the nuances of the current health insurance crisis and how the insured might be affected by health care reform legislation.
Aaron Carroll, M.D., M.S., associate professor of pediatrics and director for the Center of Health Policy and Professionalism Research and Rachel Vreeman, M.D., assistant professor of pediatrics, both at the Indiana University School of Medicine, will discuss their new book, Don’t Swallow Your Gum: Myths, Half Truths and Outright Lies about Your Body and Health.
In this week’s Sound Medicine “Checkup,” Jeremy Shere, Ph.D., will explore pain and swearing.
